WBWPC Honored ‘Champions of Change’: Dr. Mary Lane Cobb, Dr. Lucille C. Gunning & NYS Senator Suzi Oppenheimer
The WBWPC honored 3 ‘Champions of Change‘ at their 2nd Annual Autumn Cocktails & Jazz Affair on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Antonees On Broadway in White Plains, NY. The Caucus considered it a true privilege and was more than grateful to be able to acknowledge three phenomenal women. All of our ‘Champions of Change’ have accomplished so much in their lifetimes and are wonderful examples of activism and commitment to our community.
- Dr. Cobb is well known for her dedication in so many areas and in so many capacities from medicine, women’s health and community outreach to the arts and the development of our youth. Her perseverance and mentorship to so many have been unwavering.
- Dr. Gunning is a true visionary and catalyst for progression for African American doctors and in rehabilitative medicine for children. Her service and leadership continually evolved and touched and changed many lives, physicians and patients, and their families as well.
- Senator Suzi Oppenheimer has been a distinguished public servant, who has earned a reputation as a fiery and dedicated advocate for her community and constituency. She has made great strides on so many issues such as education, policies for women and the environment. She has played a major role in reform, sponsoring numerous proposals and bills positively affecting her electorate, her district and our state.
The Honorable Ruth Hassell-Thompson, NYS Senator, graciously served as the mistress-of-ceremonies and the affair also featured live jazz entertainment by The Kenny Lee Allstars.
